Pharmacology: Ofloxacin has bacteriostatic activity especially against Gram negative bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter aerogenes, Proteus and Klebsiella sp. By inhibiting bacterial cell protein synthesis, as well as sensitive strains of Staphylococci including S. aureus and S. epidermidis (positive coagulase and negative coagulase including Penicillin-resistant strains). Streptococci includes several non-haemolytic species and several streptococcus pneumoniae species.
